About

Always looking for something new, Grant Mitchell is an audio engineer and performer who works in too many genres to count. From jazz to metal to classical to hip-hop, he has produced over a dozen albums and hundreds of tracks. He’s helped engineer sessions for legendary recording artists like Bootsy Collins and Vulfpeck’s Woody Goss and has played bass, keyboard, voice, guitar and drums for many recordings and live performances.

Performing has always been a part of Grant’s DNA. At age 10, he began an acting career which led him to star in several nationally syndicated TV commercials and perform on some of Chicago’s most coveted stages, including the Goodman Theater and the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. By age 15, he focused his talents on music and audio. In just a few years, he had a dozen production credits to his name and released a solo LP that was written, performed, mixed, produced and mastered entirely by himself. In 2019, he graduated from the highly selective Indiana University Jacob’s School of Music with a Bachelor of Science in Audio Engineering and Sound Production.

Currently, Grant spends his time producing and engineering music of all genres and working with his band, Yolkdrop. Yolkdrop is a punk-inspired indie rock group that has toured the Midwest and is due to release their debut album this year. He also keeps up his passion for film by making music videos for Yolkdrop and other artists. In his free time, he enjoys long walks in nature and cuddling with his dog, Pete.
